Abuja: Amidst the fears and protest by students, parents and the National association of Nigerian students, is hope for returning to school shortly, but with the recent directive of the Joint committee of non academic staff Union of Universities, all high hopes seems to be dashed.

The Joint committee of the National association of non teaching staff of universities across Nigeria has directed that its members begin indefinite strike action on Monday 11th of September 2017.

The Joint Action Committee consists of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), National Association of Academic Technology (NAAT) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions(NASU)

The Committee says the strike became valid following the inability of the government to execute its agreements with the unions in 2009.

The Chairman of the Committee and Chairperson of SSANU Comrade Samson Chijioke Ugwoke made this known in an announcement, saying "During the strike their shall be no provision of service no matter how skeletal. Concessions shall not be made while all our members are to stay at home till further notice, Unless it is directed by JAC through their respective presidents"

More details of the strike would be available with time as this is a developing story.

It is pertinent to note that this might affect the ongoing Post-UTME in the country for new intake of students unless directed otherwise, we hope that all the industrial actions taken by various Union in the country will be resolved as Nigerians and students are keen to see this happen and resume their normal activities.

Please let us know your thoughts about this industrial action, what do you think, will this affect Nigeria's economy and development?
