These people fail to ask themselves what should be the real value of education and quest to know the essence of acquiring education in a broader scale. Nonetheless, before I elucidate further the theme of this write-up ( the true value of education), it should be justifiable to make a brief and precise meaning of education in its literal sense. The reduction of admissions bench mark is to stop Nigerians from going for foreign education - JAMB

By Igboamalu Chimezie Nelson Abuja :The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has explained that the decision by stakeholders to reduce the the cut of points for the 2017 calendar year was geared towards reducing the search for Education abroad by Nigerians. JAMB in a statement by its Head of Media Dr Fabian Benjamin said that education in the country in seriously retrogressive and fear of the public has led some to keep quiet in the matter. It also said that the bench mark strictly condemned by the public is never strictly followed by tertiary institutions in the country and some have gone below the cut off mark, while many has offered admissions without candidates even sitting for jamb. The Board which argued that the decision and controversies arising from the stakeholders action can be blamed on the rising trend for foreign education. JAMB slash cut off mark for Universities to 120

Students books The Joint Admissions and matriculation board of Nigeria with Vice chancellors, and Rectors of Universities and Polytechnics in the country, unanimously agreed in a meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja for a general cut off mark of 120 for Universities and 100 for Polytechnics in the country for the 2017/2018 admissions. The Registrar of JAMB professor Isaq Oloyede cautioned that Universities should not go below the cut off mark of 120. "All we have done is to determine the lowest cut off for admissions into higher institutions, what ever score you adopt is not below the score adopted in this meeting for admission into your various institutions is the decision of the school" He said. He also called for schools to be flexible in their adoption of cut off marks for admissions. He stated that the senate and school board should be given opportunity to choose their cut off mark.
